Test

A Comprehensive 7-Marker Male Hormone Health Screening

This pharmacy-backed screening provides a comprehensive assessment of your male hormone profile by measuring 7 key biomarkers from a simple finger-prick blood sample. Conducted from the privacy of your home, this test gives you and your healthcare provider valuable insights into your testosterone status and the broader hormonal system that regulates male wellness.

Results within 2 working days

Your sample is analysed by a UKAS-accredited lab meeting ISO 15189 quality standards.

Who Is This Screening For?

This screening is recommended for men seeking to understand their baseline hormone levels, investigate symptoms such as fatigue, low libido, or mood changes, or for those monitoring an existing hormone therapy regimen. It provides a detailed snapshot of your body's hormonal function, empowering you to have more informed conversations with your GP about your health, vitality, and physical performance.

How the Screening Works

You collect a small finger-prick blood sample at home using the sterile, single-use lancets provided. For the most accurate testosterone reading, collect your sample between 7am and 10am. Once collected, post your sample on the same day using the pre-paid Royal Mail Tracked 24 envelope. We recommend posting Monday to Thursday to avoid weekend delays.

Important: When your order confirmation arrives, please reply to that email with your date of birth. This is required to process your order without delay.

Understanding the 7 Biomarkers

Testosterone

Testosterone is the primary male sex hormone, crucial for regulating libido, bone mass, fat distribution, muscle mass, and the production of red blood cells and sperm. Produced mainly in the testes, its levels naturally vary and can be influenced by age, time of day, and overall health.

Free Testosterone (Calculated)

This is the measure of testosterone that is unbound to proteins (like SHBG and albumin) and is biologically active, meaning it's available for your body's tissues to use. It is calculated from your total testosterone and SHBG levels to provide a more accurate picture of hormonal activity.

SHBG (Sex Hormone Binding Globulin)

SHBG is a protein produced by the liver that binds tightly to testosterone, transporting it through the bloodstream. The level of SHBG in the blood influences the amount of free testosterone available to the body's tissues. High SHBG can lead to lower free testosterone levels, even if total testosterone is normal.

Free Androgen Index (FAI)

The FAI is a ratio calculated using total testosterone and SHBG values. It is used to estimate the amount of biologically active testosterone in the blood, providing another perspective on androgen status beyond the free testosterone calculation alone.

Prolactin

Prolactin is a hormone produced by the pituitary gland. While its primary role is associated with lactation in women, it is also present in men and plays a part in reproductive health. Measuring prolactin is important as atypical levels can impact testosterone production and overall hormonal balance.

FSH (Follicle-Stimulating Hormone)

FSH is a key reproductive hormone released by the pituitary gland. In men, it plays a crucial role in the development and maturation of sperm (spermatogenesis). It works in conjunction with LH to regulate testicular function.

LH (Luteinising Hormone)

Also produced by the pituitary gland, LH is the primary signal that stimulates the Leydig cells in the testes to produce testosterone. Measuring LH levels is essential for understanding the origin of low testosterone, as it helps determine if the issue stems from the testes or the pituitary gland.
