Dulcolax Pico Liquid Laxative (Sodium Picosulfate)

Dulcolax Pico Liquid is a liquid laxative that contains sodium picosulfate. It’s ideal for adults and children over 12, being taken at night to help encourage a bowel movement the next morning. If you’re looking for a way to ease your constipation and don’t want to take tablets or suppositories, a liquid laxative like Dulcolax Pico Liquid could be the ideal solution for you.

What is constipation?

Constipation is a common problem, and it means that you can’t poo as regularly as usual. When you have constipation you won’t have a solid bowel movement at least 3 times a week and may find that when you do poo it’s harder, larger, or lumpier than usual. Constipation is usually nothing to worry about but it can make you very uncomfortable, causing bloating and stomach pain or cramps until your bowel movements get back to normal.

How will Dulcolax Pico Liquid treat my constipation?

Dulcolax Pico Liquid contains an active ingredient called sodium picosulfate, which is a stimulant laxative. That means this product works by stimulating the muscles in your bowel, helping to move poo through your system so you can pass it. It usually works in around 6 - 12 hours, so taking this laxative before you go to bed can help you to go to the toilet in the morning.

Can I take this laxative during pregnancy?

If you’re pregnant or breastfeeding you should speak to your doctor or pharmacist before taking Dulcolax Pico laxative. This product contains 480mg of alcohol in every 10ml dose, which should be taken into consideration during pregnancy and may mean that this laxative isn’t the best choice for you. Constipation is particularly common during pregnancy and your doctor or pharmacist will be able to recommend lifestyle changes and other remedies that may be better for you and your baby.
