Healthy Start Children's Vitamin Drops - 10ml

Healthy Start Vitamin Drops are developed by the NHS to help support your baby as they grow. They’re perfect for breastfed babies aged 6 months and over and contain three essential vitamins your child needs as they grow. They help to prevent vitamin deficiencies and maintain normal growth and health as your little one takes their first steps into the big wide world.

How will these drops support my baby’s health?

Healthy Start Vitamin Drops contain three vitamins which are essential for growing children; vitamin A, vitamin C, and vitamin D. Vitamin A helps to maintain good eyesight and supports their hair, skin, and nails. Vitamin C helps their body to maintain healthy tissue, supporting your tissue as they heal from any little bumps and scrapes your little one may get into. Finally, vitamin D helps to support the amount of calcium your body absorbs, helping to support healthy bones and teeth.

How much of each vitamin is in these drops?

Each 5-drop dose of Healthy Start Vitamin Drops gives your child approximately:

  • Vitamin A – 223mcg
  • Vitamin C – 20mg
  • Vitamin D – 7.5mcg

Are these drops suitable for my family’s dietary needs?

Healthy Start Vitamin Drops are suitable for vegetarian and halal diets, although they are not suitable for vegans at this time. They are also free from:

  • Gluten
  • Milk
  • Egg
  • Soya
  • Peanut residues

Does my baby need Healthy Start Vitamin Drops?

Although vitamins A, C, and D are essential for babies, not all babies will need to take these vitamin drops. Healthy Start Vitamin Drops are ideal for breastfed babies who are older than 6 months until they are 5 years old. If your child is being exclusively breastfed and the mother did not take vitamin d supplements throughout their pregnancy, then you should start to give your child these drops when they are 1 month old. If your child is having more than 500ml of infant formula a day then they will not need to take these drops. This is because infant formula is fortified with vitamins, and your child will be getting all they need from 500ml of formula.

How to give your child these drops

Before use, shake the bottle well and then unscrew the cap. Turn the bottle upside down and tap the bottom until drops form. Your child will need to take 5 drops a day, so we would recommend putting them directly onto a spoon to make sure you’re measuring the correct dose. If possible, you should give your child these drops on a spoon, to make sure that they’re taking the right dose, but you can add the drops to their food or drink if they will not take them from a spoon. In this case, we’d recommend mixing the drops with a little milk or another liquid food. If your baby doesn’t finish the milk then they will not have taken the complete dose of these drops, but do not give them any more drops until the next day. The next day, add the drops to a smaller amount of food or milk to make sure your child will drink the full amount.
