Desogestrel Tablets, commonly known as the Desogestrel Pill, are a progestogen-only contraceptive pill (POP) designed to help prevent pregnancy. Each tablet contains 75 micrograms of desogestrel, a synthetic form of the natural hormone progesterone that works by preventing ovulation and thickening cervical mucus to stop sperm from reaching an egg.

Product Information

The Desogestrel Pill is a reliable and convenient form of contraception that does not contain oestrogen, making it suitable for women who are sensitive to or cannot take combined hormonal contraceptives. Unlike traditional mini-pills, desogestrel offers extra protection by preventing ovulation in most users.

Take one tablet every day at the same time, with no breaks between packs. If a tablet is missed by more than 12 hours, contraceptive protection may be reduced — follow the guidance provided in the patient information leaflet.

This is a prescription-only medicine (POM). Use only as directed by your doctor, nurse, or pharmacist.
Do not take if you are pregnant, have unexplained vaginal bleeding, or a history of serious liver disease.
If vomiting or diarrhoea occurs within 3 hours of taking a pill, follow missed pill advice.
This medicine does not protect against sexually transmitted infections (STIs) — use condoms for protection.
