Zyban 150mg (60 tabs) works by impacting the equilibriums of certain chemicals that occur naturally inside the human brain. This prevents the harsh after-effects of smoking withdrawal symptoms and the urge to continue smoking.
Zyban (Bupropion) is a medication primarily used as an aid to help people quit smoking. Originally developed as an antidepressant, it has become a popular choice for those seeking to overcome nicotine addiction.
Unlike nicotine replacement therapies, Zyban works within the brain. It targets chemicals involved in nicotine addiction, reducing cravings and withdrawal symptoms. By modulating neurotransmitters, it eases the transition away from smoking.
When using Zyban to quit smoking, you should choose a date in the second week of your course on which to stop smoking. This will help prepare you mentally for your quit date, whilst also allowing enough of the medication to be in your system to make the physical symptoms of stopping easier to handle.
Week 1 (taking Zyban while still smoking) | Day 1-6 | One 150mg tablet per day |
Day 7 | Take one tablet twice a day, at least 8 hours apart | |
Week 2 |
Keep taking one tablet twice a day Stop smoking during this week, on your planned day |
|
Weeks 3 to 9 |
Keep taking one tablet twice a day for up to 9 weeks If you have not been able to stop smoking by 7 weeks, talk to your doctor about whether Zyban is right for you. |
Some people need to take a lower dose, as they may be more likely to get side effects. If you are aged over 65, have liver or kidney disease or a higher risk of seizures, the maximum recommended dose for you is one 150 mg tablet once a day.
