Gaviscon Advance Mint tablets have been designed to provide relief from the pain and suffering of heartburn and acid indigestion, which might occur after meals or during pregnancy, for example. This medication is part of a group of medicines called ''reflect suppressants'' which establish a protective barrier on top of the stomach contents to prevent stomach acid from escaping from the stomach and causing pain and discomfort in the food pipe.
There are two ways that the tablets function. While the pink layer creates a protective barrier over the stomach to stop reflux, the white layer neutralises stomach acid to ease pain and discomfort.
