What is Emselex?

Emselex is a medicine containing the active ingredient darifenacin. It is presented in tablets extended-release (7.5 mg and 15 mg). The term 'extended-release' means that the Darifenacin is slowly released from the tablet over several hours.

How does it work?

Emselex's active ingredient, darifenacin, is an anticholinergic drug. It blocks a receptor called the 'M3 muscarinic receiver'. In the bladder, this causes the muscles that expel urine out of the bladder, resulting in an increase in bladder capacity and changes in bladder contraction, resulting in fewer contractions. Of this Emselex way prevents involuntary urination.

Emselex belongs to a class of medications that relax the muscles of the bladder. Emselex Tablets uses include being indicated for adults to treat symptoms of the overactive bladder - such as a sudden urge to urinate, frequent need to urinate, or inability to hold it until reaching the toilet (urge incontinence). All of these symptoms can occur in the same patient.
