Pre-exposure prophylaxis (or PrEP) is the more well-known term. It's used to prevent the human immunodeficiency viruses (HIV).
Truvada is the most well-known PrEP medication brand worldwide. However, all versions of Truvada contain the same antiretroviral drugs emtricitabine (and tenofovir), which are extremely effective in preventing HIV.
