Furosemide tablets (also known as water tablets) are part of a class of medicines called diuretics. Furosemide tablets can be used to eliminate excess fluid from the body. They are also used to treat high blood pressure and kidney disease.
Furosemide works by reducing the amount of fluid your body retains. These tablets work on your kidneys to make you pass more urine. They remove fluid from your body, which lowers your blood pressure levels and makes it easier for your heart to pump your blood through your body.
Furosemide tablets belong to a group of medicines known as loop diuretics (water tablets). This medication is usually used in combination with other medications to treat high blood pressure (hypertension).
